Living Here

Double navy blue doors open to a spacious entry. The large scale modern tiles manage to be both elegant and relaxed. Step in the entry and you immediately notice the water views through the kitchen. To the left, the living room is adorned by richly stained intricate wood floors. The room’s focal point is the fireplace, clad in stacked river stones and capped off by a weathered wood mantel (Pottery Barn). Cool breezes blow in from the water and the West Elm Capiz chandelier in the dining room jingles like a wind chime. Three sets of patio doors open from the dining room, the kitchen and the family room onto the expansive waterfront patio. The indoor/outdoor flow, combined with spaces that are well lit in the evening, encourage entertaining. The open kitchen looks out over the water. The family room is show stopper with a wall of view facing windows and a wood vaulted ceiling. This is modern beach house style living at its best

The spacious floor plan includes three large bedrooms and a fourth open office, den or hang out space.  The master suite faces the lagoon, with patio doors out to a private deck. The master bath is newly renovated in keeping with the modern beach house theme. There are two additional bathrooms upstairs, both with new tile. There are other generous spaces such as a large walk-in closet in the master bedroom, a separate utility room on the main floor and a two-car garage.  Smart house features include a smart refrigerator and a Nest thermostat.

Despite its 80,000 residents, there's still a small-town feeling in Alameda. A 4th of July Parade, complete with horse-drawn carriages, embodies the small-town feel in Alameda and passes right by the home. Alameda has further preserved the community feel with its central, walkable shopping district along Park Street. The Alameda Theater on Park Street was restored to its art deco glory. Civic pride runs high here; formerly the Carnegie Library, the Alameda Free Library was transformed into a multimillion-dollar showplace that earned a Silver LEED certification. Kids play soccer on former parade grounds of the converted army barracks. Crown Memorial State Beach and Shoreline Drive attract wind surfers.

This home sits in the coveted and aptly named South Shore/Shoreline neighborhood of Alameda.  The South Shore stretches all the way from Crown Memorial Beach Park to Bay Farm Island Bridge. The neighborhood’s most appealing aspect is it’s location. Those who stroll along Shoreline Drive have a beautiful view of the bay along with miles of jogging and bike paths. You can stroll the beach, go windsurfing, or just enjoy a picnic at the Crab Cove park. There are also community sports like softball and a dog park, all within walking distance.

At the South Shore Shopping Center you have access to groceries, restaurants (independent ones like Loard's ice cream and Sushi House, as well as chains like Chipotle and Daphne's), Trader Joe's, Kohls, and a whole lot more. You're also within minutes of Park Street, a local food, drink and shopping destination.
